Before leaving, make sure you have:

• A valid passport or an identity card for students from the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation.
• A Long-Stay D type visa stamped « Student » except for students from the European Union, the European Economic Space or the Swiss Confederation. To obtain a visa, you must contact the French Consulate or French Embassy in your home country / Etudes en France official platform https://france-visas.gouv.fr/web/france-visas/accueil, HDAP Allégé process. For further information, please visit www.campusfrance.org. (N.B. tourist visa is neither renewable nor extendable in France). You will apply for a visa thanks to a Letter of Acceptance delivered by Bordeaux Sciences Agro. You will receive all relevant information upon admission to the program.
• A copy of your birth certificate
• A copy of your diplomas
• The Letter of Acceptance issued by Bordeaux Sciences Agro

Healthcare Insurance:

In France, healthcare insurance (‘Sécurité Sociale’/social security as it is more commonly known) is mandatory for all students.

Non-european Students:
You will need to register on the dedicated website for students in order to be partly covered for your medical expenses when you arrive in France (free of charge): https://etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr/

European Students:
If you are a citizen of the EU/EEA or Switzerland, you can ask for a European health insurance card (EHIC card), before you come to France, as proof of membership in a european health insurance scheme. You do not need to register online on etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr: when you arrive in France, you will submit this card to the health professionals and healthcare facilities you will go to.
